What to Wear in Mongolia November?

November brings severe cold to Inner Mongolia with big regional temperature gaps. The eastern region (extreme low -21℃) needs heavy cold protection: warm, breathable, quick-dry thermal underwear (base), thick fleece or chunky sweater (middle), and long, thick down/cotton coat (outer). Pair with fleece-lined thermal + down pants, knee-high waterproof non-slip snow boots, thick wool socks, a Lei Feng hat, thick scarf, and waterproof ski gloves—use warm patches on inner clothing and phones. The central-western region (extreme low -12℃) calls for a light down/wool coat over a sweater and thermal underwear, plus fleece-lined pants, mid-calf non-slip shoes, a knit hat, and thin gloves. Milder western areas (extreme low -11℃) only need a thick jacket/light down coat, fleece-lined long sleeves, waterproof shoes, and a lightweight scarf.

Touring Inner Mongolia in November

Though still a golden sea in November, Inner Mongolia has already started snowing. In Moerdaoga National Forest Park in eastern Inner Mongolia , larch trees form a golden forest sea—ride the forest train through it, overlook the whole view from Longyan Mountain Observation Deck, and enjoy healing scenery along the self-driving Cuigu Highway. The Wulagai Grassland in Xilingol, central-western Inner Mongolia , is less crowded with rich wild charm: the winding Xilin Jiuquwan meanders through the withered yellow meadow, where you can ride horses in the evening, join herders' bonfire parties at night, and taste authentic hand-grabbed meat. In western Inner Mongolia’s Ejina Banner, the poplar forest is near the end of its viewing period, but the golden branches and leaves against the desert still make a stunning natural scene, and the silhouettes of dead trees in the Strange Forest at sunset are especially beautiful.
