What to Wear in Inner Mongolia in February?

In February, Eastern Inner Mongolia gets extremely cold (min -36℃) and dry, with strong winds. You'll need a "three-layer outfit": German velvet thermals inside, a thick woolen or fleece sweater in the middle, and a knee-length down jacket outside. Add waterproof non-slip snow boots, an ear-covering hat, waterproof gloves, a scarf and foot warmers. Central-western Inner Mongolia (min -24℃) has temp changes, winds and day-night differences. A "basic three-layer outfit" works here: thin thermals, a woolen sweater and a short down jacket. Pair them with fleece-lined Martin boots, a knitted hat and a thin scarf. Western Inner Mongolia is the mildest (min -18℃), with warmer afternoons. Dress "warm but not bulky": regular thermals, a lightweight down jacket or thick coat, and fleece-lined pants. Wear fleece-lined leather shoes and thin gloves.

Touring Inner Mongolia in February

In February, Hulunbuir in eastern Inner Mongolia (-36℃ to -1℃) remains a snowy fairyland. You can go to the Mo'ergele River to watch the "Ice Nadam Festival", experience snow horse racing and wrestling, or visit the Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe and ride a reindeer sleigh through the snowfield.
In central-western Inner Mongolia (-24℃ to 11℃), Xilingol League is the most lively. The winter fishing at Chagan Nur Lake lets you witness "thousands of fresh fish emerging from the ice", and you can also participate in intangible cultural heritage activities like snow "bulu" throwing.
Western Inner Mongolia (-18℃ to 13℃) has the mildest climate. After snow, Wuhai Lake looks like a fairyland, with migratory birds playing on the ice. You can ski and enjoy the scenery; when tired, relax in hot springs and experience the unique sight of deserts blending with ice and snow.
