What to Wear in March?

In April, dress in Inner Mongolia, focusing on "large temperature differences, frequent wind-sand, strong UV rays"—balance warmth, wind and sun protection. Eastern Inner Mongolia (cool, >10℃ day-night gap): wear breathable quick-dry innerwear, thin wool/fleece middle layer, windproof/light down outer layer. Prepare a knitted hat, thin gloves, and waterproof hiking shoes. Central-western areas (warmer but windy): use detachable-liner windproof jackets (take liner off at noon), thin knit middle layer, long-sleeve T-shirt. Pair with fleece casual shoes, a wide-brimmed hat. Western regions (warmest, frequent sandstorms): wear windproof/thin trench coats over short-sleeve T-shirts + thin layers. Bring dust masks, sunglasses, breathable shoes, and thin scarves.

Touring Inner Mongolia in March?

In April's eastern Inner Mongolia, ice and snow melt little by little, and the Greater Khingan Range forests turn green. You can hike to explore primitive forests and spot early spring migratory birds; if residual snow remains, try short snow walks too. Stay warm morning and evening, and bring a windproof jacket.

The central-western region feels pleasantly warm. Wusutu Zhao's apricot blossoms are fully open—great for outings and flower viewing. You can also go to Xilamuren Grassland to see new grass and join herders' spring folk activities. Wear light clothes in the day, but add a thin coat at night.

The western region is warm, with hardly any cold. Desert activities at Whistling Dune Bay are best now—ride camels and go sandboarding. You can visit cultural places in Kangbashi New District. For occasional sandstorms, take a dust mask and sunglasses, and protect yourself from the sun.
