Day 1: Arrival Beijing, explore Beijing traditional snacks (D)
When you arrive in Beijing, our guide and driver will escort you from the airport to your hotel. In the evening, the guide will take you to Huguosi Snack Street.
The street presents foodies with local snacks, cakes and traditional dishes, including soft, sweet Fried Chopped Rice Cake, Seasoned Millet Mush, and Beijing Fried Noodles. You will experience Beijing locals’ daily meals.
Day 2: Wander around historical sites, visit a classical vegetarian restaurant, enjoy a hotpot feast (B,L,D)
Wander around Tiananmen Square which is definitely the heart of China, then on to the best-preserved imperial palace, and the Forbidden City, where you will enjoy the art of Chinese ancient architecture.
At noon, have lunch at a vegetarian restaurant. Visit the classical courtyard with Chinese ancient culture. Two styles of dishes are served in the restaurant, including vegan recipes and mock meat recipes. The Nongfu Roasted Fish is their specialty. The flesh of fish is made from soy gluten and bean products with seaweed, which taste delicious. As a dessert, a pumpkin bowl is a must-eat. You will enjoy the classical charm of China while you relax.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Garden of Virtue and Harmony (Deheyuan) in the Summer Palace, where the Empress Dowager Cixi used to watch Beijing opera. Boating on the beautiful Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace, you will have the best view of the Hill of Longevity in this enjoyable experience. When it’s time for dinner, you will have a pleasurable hot pot experience.
HiDiLao Hot Pot: The restaurant is celebrated for its terrific service and delicious food. In their waiting area, they will make your wait times enjoyable. There will be much fun and great hospitality when you enjoy your meal.
Day 3: Hike the Mutianyu Great Wall and 798 art zone, enjoy delicious Roasted Duck (B,L,D)
Today’s tour begins with a pickup you from your hotel to go to Mutianyu Great Wall. You will learn some China history by visiting the majestic Great Wall. Then you will head to 798 Art Zone. It is a fabulous art space to walk around. In this fairly wide complex, you can try to find galleries, spaces, and museums to see contemporary art in awesome buildings.
Afterward, we will recommend a local restaurant for dinner with the famous Beijing Roasted Duck.
Beijing Roasted Duck is a culinary delight of Beijing you don’t want to skip. You will learn how to eat the roasted duck firstly and enjoy the taste of the sweet, crunchy skin with juicy meat that melts in your mouth. Having good service and great flavor, Da Dong Roast Duck, Siji Minfu Restaurant, and Bianyifang are recommended.
Day 4: Learning Tai Chi in Temple of Heaven, have a taste of Instant-boiled Mutton and leave to Xi’an (B,L)
Meet your guide in the morning at your hotel. Transfer to the imperial temple —Temple of Heaven. There you will meet a master and learn Tai Chi. After your morning tour, you will be taken to have a lunch of instant-boiled mutton, eating like the locals. After the Beijing tour, our guide will send you to the Beijing Railway Station.
Instant-boiled Mutton is as well-known as Beijing Roasted Duck. The traditional way is to boil fresh, tender mutton in copper pots over charcoal. The soup cannot turn too thin when it has been boiled for a long time. Put the thin slices of mutton in the boiling hot-pot and take it out as soon as it changes color, then dip it in sauces, such as sesame sauce, chili oil, or seafood sauce. Not only will you taste a delicious cuisine, but also enjoy the indigenous food culture.
Day 5: Wander around historical sites, visit a classical vegetarian restaurant, enjoy a hotpot feast (B,L,D)
Today you will transfer to Xi’an, and we drive you to stroll over the City Wall and see the Terracotta Warriors, and after that, visit the cave dwelling, and you will have a good opportunity to get to know their authentic life. At night, you will have a rest for dinner to taste local cuisine and see how locals spend their nights.
Cave Dwelling is a traditional form on the Loess Plateau in China. Caves are usually burrowed into a hill, designed so that the homely indoor space stays warm in the cold seasons and cool in the hot seasons.
Yongxingfang Food Street: Just like the Muslim Quarters, Yongxingfang Food Street is popular with the locals. A lot of specialty foods can be tasted tonight. Crumbled flatbread in Mutton Stew with a bowl of hot soup is a tasty dish will shake up your taste buds. Cool noodles in sesame sauce taste chewy with a smooth strength, rice and jujube cake are soft and sweet. Wandering near the foot of the city wall, you will have a fun night with tasty snacks and folk culture.
Day 6: Stroll around the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, make dumplings with a local family, transfer to Chengdu (B, L)
Continue to explore Xi’an landmarks, including the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. There is a pleasant park for strolling and watching. After visiting the pagoda, you will experience how to make dumplings with a local family. Then, your guide will return you to your hotel and you will transfer to the Xi’an railway station for departure.
Making dumplings: you will learn how to make dumplings from the first step, spend time with a local family cooking and chatting. Finally, enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Day 7: Watch cure pandas, make Sichuan dishes, try Chengdu’s famous snacks and tea (B,L,D)
Arrive at Chengdu, we will escort you to your hotel. Your tour starts with a visit to Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base. Pandas are active in the morning, so you will see them climbing, tickling, and lying. You will find watching these adorable creatures intoxicating.
Next, travel to Chuancai Museum, to learn the history of Sichuan Cuisine and how to make it. At dinner time, strolling on the Kuanzhai Alley, you will explore local snacks and tea shops. Here in this paradise you will eat, drink and be merry.
Chuancai Museum: The Museum of Sichuan Cuisine is renowned as “a museum that can be eaten”. A bilingual guide wearing a Chef’s uniform will introduce how to make Sichuan cuisine and guide you how to make it yourself. In this process, you will grasp the rich culture of the local dishes and experience how to make Sichuan cuisine with basic knife skills. Finally, enjoy local culinary delights that you cooked yourself.
Kuanzhai Alley: Kuanzhai Alley is a historical district from the Qing Dynasty where you can see a mix of tradition and modern life. Walk around the street to get insight into local leisure time through teahouse culture and find famous snacks, such as crisp, sweet Sugar and Oil Guozi, bean jelly with spicy, rich sauce, and time-honored snacks Dan Hong Gao (folded tender cake with eggs in the floor).
Day 8: Departure Chengdu (B)
Our driver and guide will transfer you to the airport, farewell in Chengdu.
