Full Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival, welcome to Beijing

Your guide will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel, and then help you to check in.

Day 02: Explore the history of Beijing (B,L,D)

Your trip starts with a visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, and in the afternoon, wander around Jingshan Park. The panoramic view from the pavilion is especially good for photography.

Tiananmen Square: situated in the center of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is one of the biggest city squares in the world. Stroll around in Tiananmen Square and make sure that you notice the famous Five-Star Flag fluttering in the wind, and then visit the Monument of the People’s Heroes as well as the National Museum.

The Forbidden City: Built on blue-and-white stone foundations with yellow-glaze tiled roofs, the Forbidden City is the largest wooden architecture in the world listed by the UNESCO, looking both solemn and majestic. The Palace Museum houses are overflowing with extraordinary collections.

Jingshan Park: Facing the Forbidden City, Jingshan Park is an imperial garden with an eight-hundred-year history. The top of the hill is the highest point in the Old Beijing City. On the hill is Wanchun Pavilion, from where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the whole city center and a panoramic view of the Forbidden City.

Good to Know:
Wangfujing Street and Shichahai are the main business areas in the old part of Beijing City. You can find many time-honored shops and enjoy local cuisine. Probably the best-known example, Peking Roast Duck, features crispy skin and juicy meat, and you will definitely enjoy a taste. As well as this, on the bank of Shichahai, you may still see some performers playing the Erhu, a traditional music instrument, and even hear some Beijing Opera performers.

Day 03:Huanghuacheng Great Wall and the Temple of Heaven (B,L,D)

Drive to Huanghuacheng Great Wall to visit this section of the Wall with its beautiful lakeside scenery. Climb up to the campsite and help out by picking up garbage. Visiting the Great Wall of China at the same time as being involved in environmental protection will make this an especially enjoyable experience. In the afternoon, take a stroll through the Temple of Heaven.

Huanghuacheng Great Wall: Nestled in the Huairou District of Beijing City, the sight of this ancient Great Wall, the emerald waters, and a chain of mountains blend together perfectly. The original Great Wall, built in the Ming Dynasty, meandered along the ridge, which is divided by the lake, providing an unrivalled view.

The Temple of Heaven: The Temple of Heaven is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest is the venue where the emperors used to pray for fruitful harvests.

Day 04: Cultural exchange and Orphanage (B,L)

Today’s itinerary is full of rewards as you communicate with local children; your guide will lead you to a local school. After lunch, you will move on to an orphanage in Tongzhou.

Cultural Exchange: Enjoy communion with students while visiting a local school, watching Chinese cooking, eating Chinese cuisine, and participating in a sports match. You will learn so much more beyond what you can read in the text books.

Orphanage Visit in Tongzhou: This orphanage is situated in a villa, and some of the orphans are children with cerebral palsy. The visit includes meeting the person in charge of the orphanage, and learning about the basic conditions. If you would like, you can help to cook dinner and play with orphaned babies and children as well as make a donation.

Day 05: The Summer Palace and Speed Train to Xi'an (B,L)

After visiting the Summer Palace, your guide and driver will take you to the train station. Enjoy a scenic ride and arrive in Xi’an in the evening.

The Summer Palace: Borrowing from the scenes of the surrounding landscapes, the Summer Palace mixes grandeur with the beauty of nature, hence the name: “the Museum of Imperial Garden”.

Day 06: The Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses and Xi'an City Wall (B,L,D)

The most appealing attraction in Xi’an is the Terracotta Warriors and Horses. You will be amazed by the stunning sight. Afterwards, continue to explore Xi’an City Wall and the Muslim Quarter to enjoy a feast both for your eyes and your mouth.

The Museum of Terracotta Warriors and Horses: Qin Shi Huang was the first Emperor of China; this museum is considered one of the most priceless ancient tombs in the world. There are three pits containing Warriors and Horses, bronze weapons and chariots. The huge underground army unfolds in front of you.

Xi'an City Wall: The existing city wall was built in the Ming Dynasty based on the walls from the Tang Dynasty, and is the best-preserved City Wall in China. The complete city wall was an effective defense. On top of the city wall is a wide and flat road; you can not only walk along the road, but also ride a bicycle to enjoy the splendid scenery.

The Muslim Quarter (Huimin Street): This is a must-see attraction in Xi'an. Four hours of strolling will take you on a journey of delicious food discovery. A lot of food lovers are lured to the bustling street with its long history.

Good to Know: Xi’an Hot Pot is a delicious and unique Chinese dish, the main ingredients including meat and vegetables overlaid with the delectable aroma of soup, and you don’t want to miss it. What’s more, it is easy to find all sorts of local snacks on the street, such as Flatbread in Mutton Soup (YangrouPaomo), Meat burger (Roujiamo), and Biangbiang Noodles.

Day 07: Huiling Welfare Institution and Shanxi History Museum (B,L)

After breakfast, you will head to Huiling Welfare Institution which is a non- governmental organization. Later visit Shanxi History Museum and then you will be transferred to the airport for an evening flight to Chengdu.

Huiling Welfare Institution: This NGO service center, built in 2002, is where children with mental disabilities are trained to live independently. You will visit the workshop where they make handcrafts to sell. You will then make dumplings or a meal together with them. They will also prepare a short dancing and singing performance to show off their talent.  

Shanxi History Museum: This is a comprehensive museum that collects precious and magnificent cultural relics, combined with an exhibition of various forms of art as well as performing functions of scientific research and educational propaganda. Visiting the museum will be an ideal opportunity for you to learn about Chinese history.

Day 08: Panda keeper program in Dujiangyan (B,L,D)

This unique one-day tour is about the Panda Keeper program. Under guidance, you will quickly learn how to take care of the pandas, and have a memorable experience of getting close to these lovely creatures.

Volunteer experience in Dujiangyan: Here you will experience a series of programs, learning about the history and facts about pandas, cleaning the outdoor and indoor enclosures, washing bamboo and carrot to prepare food and fruit cakes for the pandas. You will be awarded a volunteer certificate after finishing all of this work.

Good to Know: Jinli Street is a famous site to visit in Chengdu where you can admire clay figures, sugar painting, shadow lamps, chopsticks shops, and you can taste Sichuan local snacks. Tea house, coffee shop, and bar are all available.

Panda Giant Pandas

Day 9: Leshan Giant Buddha and Kuanzhai Alley (B,L)

Go along the plank road to get close enough to admire the Leshan Buddha. However, the most enjoyable way to admire this grand Buddha is by boating on the river. In the afternoon, stroll along Kuanzhai Alley and indulge in the local people’s life.

Leshan Giant Buddha: Leshan Giant Buddha is a huge statue of Maitreya carved into the mountain side. It is made up of elaborate cliff-side sculptures from the Tang Dynasty and is the biggest seated Maitreya Buddha in the world.

Kuanzhai Alley: This is the ancient street and a cultural heritage left over from the Qing Dynasty. Here you can experience the local people's life, drinking tea, eating hotpot, and face changing (Bian Lian) to enjoy the leisure hours. You can experience tradition, culture, and modern life at the same time.

Day 10: Chengdu Departure (B)

Your guide and driver will transport you to the airport on time. We wish you a nice journey home.
