Upon arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), your personal tour guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. You will be given an orientation tour. You can enjoy some leisurely birding around your hotel if you arrive early.
Full day birding at Dishui Lake for Locustella pryeri. The tour can be extended to Chongming Island if time allows.
Today you will be transferred to Rudong County in Jiangsu Province. It is the homeland of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper. Not many of this species have been observed here, but this could be a good chance for you to see them (if you catch the tide at the right moment), as well as some lovely ‘Spoonies’ amongst the very large numbers of red-necked stints and little ringed plovers!

Keep birding in Rudong and drive to Yancheng for the Red-crowned Crane at Yancheng National Nature Reserve (NNR). You may also have a chance to see some common cranes, sandhill cranes, and hooded cranes. The Yancheng NNR Management Bureau offers photography sites for birders. Return to Rudong in the late afternoon.
Enjoy your time birding in Rudong and along the journey back to Shanghai.
Take a speed train for less than 5 hours, and you will escape from the busy metropolis to the quiet boutique city of Huangshan. You will enjoy a leisurely afternoon strolling along Tunxi Old Street. Go hiking and birding at Xin’anjiang River.
Tunxi Old Street
Located about 1 hour driving distance from Huangshan City, the Yellow Mountains are known as the most beautiful mountain scenery in China. You will enjoy a picturesque ride from the entrance to the cable car station and then all the way up to the top by Yungu Cable car. This is not only because the gorgeous landscape, but also the birds, which makes it the must-visit site. Slaty buntings and rusty laughingthrushes can be found there. You may see them very close up on the mountains.

Enjoy a leisurely morning, or you can get up early to shoot the sunrise over clouds. Take the cable car down the hill and then head to Hongcun Village, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the most popular places for photographers in China. Drive to Wuyuan in the afternoon.

Located at the boarder of Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangxi Province, Wuyuan is a place with lush forests, rich farmlands, as well as a variety of wild life. This is the ideal spot for birders. You'll spend two days birding here, looking for the Yellow-Throated Laughingthrush / Blue-crowned laughingthrush, a rare species. Try your luck with us and expand your bird list.

Keep birding in Wuyuan and then take an afternoon train to Nanchang. Upon arrival, you will be transferred from the train station to your hotel. You may explore the neighborhood after some relaxation and freshen up.
This is a traveling day and you may find Greater Crested Kingfishers, Yellow-Bellied Tits, Brown Dippers, and even Black and Serpent Eagles along the journey.
You will spend 2 full days exploring Emeifeng NNR. Your local birding guide will lead you to a large number of birds in the woods and along some small paths. Endangered Cabot's Tragopan is the highlight of these two days. You will also enjoy searching for some endemic species, such as Fujian Fulvetta, Grey-Sided Scimitar Babbler, Streak-Breasted Scimitar Babbler, Kloss's Leaf Warbler, White-Spectacled, Alstrom's, Bianchi's, Buff-Throated Warblers, Brown Bullfinch, Green Shrike-Babbler, and Spotted Wren-Babbler. There are a lot more to discover on your own.

You may spend some early morning time to look for more birds. You will be transferred to Taining to connect with a high speed train to Fuzhou. Relax in the evening.
Depart Fuzhou for a flight back to Shanghai. This exciting tour ends here. You can extend your visit to Guilin Mao’er Mountain, or Nanning Nonggang NNR for more birds.
