Nanping Pedestrian Street
Nanping Street is an old, historical street in Kunming. The commercial atmosphere in the street is still almost palpable. In 1965, Nanping Street was renamed Dongfeng Road in political over-enthusiasm, and was changed back in 1982. The 40,000 m2 urban leisure and entertainment space features interesting sculptures and dry fountains, as well as stools with cylindrical bases on the Kunming street. Five sets of scene sculptures can be seen, namely “walking birds, carrying water, taking photos, peddling and kicking a tin can”, all of which reflect the folkways in Kunming.
