The Yamen Grassland is located to the north of the Kunlun Mountains, at an altitude of about 6,000 meters above sea level. The Kunlun Snow Mountains tower into the clouds, with the snow on their peaks crystal clear, shining with a silvery light under the sun. They form a sharp contrast with the green grassland, and the Kunlun Snow Mountains and grasslands complement each other like a painting, creating a strong visual impact and making people feel the majesty and magnificence of nature.

Characteristic Dwellings

Characteristic DwellingsCharacteristic Dwellings

The Yamen Grassland is dotted with numerous yurts, which are the traditional residences of local herdsmen. These yurts set off against the blue sky, white clouds and grassland, forming a unique cultural landscape. Visitors can experience the rich nomadic customs here and feel the lifestyle of the herdsmen.

Educational Value

The Yamen Grassland is adjacent to the Kunlun Mountains, which are an important part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The formation of the Kunlun Mountains is closely related to the collision and compression of the Indian Plate and the Eurasian Plate. The mountains, canyons and other landforms around the grassland serve as "natural laboratories" for geographical processes such as plate tectonics, glaciation, and weathering and erosion, helping to understand the evolutionary history of the Earth's surface.

Activities to do at Yamen Grassland

Folklore interaction: Learn to make dairy products from herders, try riding horses on the grassland, or participate in simple herding activities to understand the nomadic life wisdom of "living by the water and grass".

Camping and picnic: Bring food, set up tents and camp in designated areas of the grassland, picnic on the grassland during the day, look up at the pure starry sky of the plateau at night, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Please pay attention to environmental hygiene.

Note:

The Yamen Grassland is at a high altitude, so you need to prepare for altitude sickness in advance. You need to bring oxygen bottles in advance and avoid strenuous exercise. Please respect the living habits and religious beliefs of local herdsmen, and do not enter private pastures or yurts without permission. Protect the grassland ecology: do not discard garbage at will, and do not destroy vegetation and wildlife habitats.
