Guozigou Bridge is a double-tower, double-cable-plane steel truss girder cable-stayed bridge. It is the first highway double-tower, double-cable-plane steel truss girder cable-stayed bridge in China and also the tallest bridge in Xinjiang.
The Guozigou Bridge has a total length of 700 meters, with the deck standing 200 meters net height above the valley floor, and its main towers are over 215 meters high. It is China's first highway double-tower, double-cable-plane steel truss girder cable-stayed bridge. Overlooking from the viewing platform or the top of Pine Head, the bridge forms a graceful S-shaped curve, just like a giant dragon hovering among the lofty mountains, making people marvel at the grandeur of modern engineering and human wisdom. The main towers of the bridge are 209 meters and 215.5 meters high respectively. Both main towers adopt a stepped reinforced concrete frame structure, and their design takes into account both structural stability and aesthetic effects.
Recommended Shooting Spot: Walk down the wooden plank road next to the parking lot of Guozigou Viewing Platform Resort. The photo spot is at a large rock along the plank road. You can use perspective shooting (trick photography) to take thrilling and unique photos, making it look as if you are standing on the edge of a cliff. This creates a stunning scene with the Guozigou Bridge and the surrounding natural landscapes.
Jinding Mountain is located in the southeast of Guozigou, adjacent to Sayram Lake to the north and connected to Guozigou Bridge to the south. Climbing to the top, you can overlook the entire view of the Guosai Scenic Area. A wooden plank road about 7,000 meters long has been built from the foot of the mountain to the top. Along the winding plank road, there are 5 viewing pavilions, 7 viewing platforms, 6 rest platforms, 3 wooden toilets and other auxiliary facilities for the convenience of tourists. Among the viewing platforms are Chagatai Platform, Bridge-Viewing Platform, Wave-Listening Platform and Scenic-Viewing Platform, which present different landscapes as the altitude rises.
Spanning the Guozigou Gorge, the bridge adopts a double-tower, double-cable-plane steel truss girder cable-stayed design. It is the first large-scale cable-stayed bridge built in alpine, high-altitude, and windy areas in China. Its technological breakthroughs such as "beam erection" and "cable tower anchoring" intuitively demonstrate how to overcome problems like wind loads in the gorge and geological instability through the principles of structural mechanics, making it a practical teaching case for civil engineering and bridge engineering disciplines.
Sightseeing and Photography: Sunrise and sunset are the golden hours for photography, when the golden light shines on the bridge, creating a stunning scene. In addition, the Guozigou area has little light pollution; on clear nights, you can try to take photos of the bridge with the starry sky in the same frame.
Hiking and Cycling: Cycling enthusiasts can choose the cycling route from Yining to Guozigou Bridge, which is about 50 kilometers in total and offers beautiful scenery along the way.
Bridge Science Popularization: At the information display boards on the viewing platform, you can learn about the construction history and technical achievements of the Guozigou Bridge.
