The "Luhuitou" sculpture is 15 meters high, 10 meters long and 5 meters wide. It is a highly renowned granite sculpture within Hainan Island and an outdoor sculptural work created based on the local love myth and legend of the Li ethnic group.

There is a beautiful love legend of the Li ethnic group in Hainan about Luhuitou: In ancient times, a young Li hunter chased a sambar deer from Wuzhishan, the hinterland of Hainan Island, all the way to the shore of the South China Sea. When the sambar deer faced the cliff on the mountain peak and the vast sea with no way out, it looked back with tears in its eyes. Seeing this scene, the hunter felt a sudden pang of compassion, put down his bow and arrow, and decided not to kill the deer. This deer was actually a divine deer sent by heaven to enlighten the hunter. When it saw that the hunter had a kind heart, it transformed into a beautiful woman and spent the rest of her life with the hunter, living a life of men farming and women weaving. This was an important step for humanity to move from barbarism to civilization. Because of this beautiful legend, Sanya City is also known as the "City of Deer".

Luhuitou Scenic Area is currently the only scenic spot in Sanya where a community of wild macaques (second-class national protected animals) inhabits. There are more than 20 groups of macaques, with about 500 wild macaques living here. These macaques enjoy eating wild fruits and frequently emerge in the forest and within the scenic area during the early morning and evening. Their interactions and playful behavior with tourists are truly charming. But it should be noted that as wild animals, they may pose a risk of injury. Please do not approach them closely or feed them casually.
