Highlights of Dali Dong Village

Ancient Traditional Architecture

Dali Dong Village has a unique 1780 Qing Dynasty courtyard, well-preserved with three tiers of verandas around a central skywell. Five special "flower bridges" cross Lidong Stream – wooden with blue-tiled roofs, benches and railings, the longest 30 meters. These old landmarks blend with traditional wooden houses, babbling streams and green hills, forming living landscape paintings.

Vibrant Folk Customs

Dali Dong Village lights up during the "Chixin Festival," as locals wear traditional clothes—women in embroidered dresses with dragons, phoenixes and flowers, plus silver pins and jade bracelets; men in indigo tunics. Villagers pick fresh rice and catch fish for ancestors, celebrating with lively bullfights, bird contests, and circle dances in the "stepping song hall." UNESCO-listed Dong Grand Choir fills the air—rich harmonies holding centuries of heritage—letting visitors join these living traditions.

Harmonious and Beautiful Natural Ecology

Surrounded by green mountains, Dali Dong Village is a quiet retreat with ancient forests holding over 400 tall Phoebe zhennan trees. Sunlight seeps through thick leaves, casting golden light on the clear Lidong Stream, where fish swim by traditional grain racks. In autumn, these wooden racks fill with golden crops, mixing softly with maple groves, pine forests and bamboo. The village lives by the Dong saying "elders guard the village, old trees protect homes," letting visitors feel nature's calm closely.

Educational Value

Dali Dong Village shows the Dong idea of living with nature through its design: set between mountains and water, it uses streams for daily needs and natural climate control. Terraced fields slope down the hills, forming a "mountain-water-field-village" loop that demonstrates smart use of highland resources.
