  • How to get there:
    By Bus: You can take long - distance buses from Ordos City directly to the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Tourist Area. There are also buses running from Baotou to Yulin (Shaanxi) that pass by the mausoleum. Besides, there is a special tourist line from Dongsheng, passing through Kangbashi and then to the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Tourist Area. The bus departs from Ordos Square in Dongsheng at 8:00 every day.
    By Car: It is about 28 kilometers from Kangbashi, the city government of Ordos, and about 20 kilometers from Ordos Airport. There are expressways connecting to Beijing, Xi'an, and Ningxia, with convenient transportation.

As the core scenic spot of the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Scenic Area, the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Palace is resplendent with gold, looking like an eagle spreading its wings to fly. It shows the grand momentum of an imperial mausoleum on the grassland. The mausoleum palace has milky white walls, vermilion doors and windows, golden roof tops and blue cloud patterns, all of which have unique Mongolian ethnic characteristics. Inside, it houses Genghis Khan's coffin and related relics. Here, visitors can feel the strong atmosphere of sacrificial culture and understand the respect and memory the Mongolian people have for Genghis Khan.

The Majestic Mountain Gate Scenery

This scenic spot is really stunning. It's shaped like the Chinese character "山" (mountain), and looks as if someone split a huge mountain peak from the top. The structure is like a sacred mountain, standing like a cliff. Its walls have bold 13th-century Mongolian characters and grassland rock carvings engraved on them—you can see bits of historical facts right away. In the center stands a statue of Genghis Khan riding a horse. It's majestic and powerful, reaching up to the sky. The whole gate scenery shows a grand view of "creating the world with great momentum" and is the most special Mongolian cultural gate scenery. As soon as visitors enter the scenic area, it lets them feel Genghis Khan's heroic look and great manner.

The Iron Horse Golden Tent Group Sculptures

It is the world's first large-scale real-scene sculpture group that fully shows Genghis Khan's military formation and mobile imperial palace. The group sculptures recreate the historical picture of Genghis Khan's life as a warrior—fighting across the north and south, and spanning Europe and Asia. It seems to let visitors feel the real scene of Genghis Khan commanding millions of troops to march bravely and unite Mongolia. The lifelike sculptures, with grand momentum, vividly show the powerful lineup of the Mongolian army and their fearless spirit, serving as an important window to learn about Mongolian history and military culture.

Mongolian History and Culture Museum

Shaped like the Mongolian character "汗" (Khan), it is one of the typical contemporary Mongolian-style buildings. As the first museum at home and abroad dedicated to collecting, researching and displaying Mongolian history and culture, it houses a large number of Mongolian historical relics and exquisite, unique ethnic artifacts dating back to Genghis Khan's time—such as ancient weapons, gorgeous costumes and fine handcrafts. Through these exhibits, visitors can gain an in-depth understanding of the Mongolian people's development process, cultural heritage and living customs, and feel the profound heritage of Mongolian history and culture.

Through physical objects, scenes and sacrificial rituals, the Genghis Khan Mausoleum intuitively shows the rise of the Mongolian nation in the 13th century—the key historical stage from Genghis Khan uniting the Mongolian tribes and establishing the Mongol Khanate to promoting Mongolian culture and grassland civilization to their heyday. Activities to do at Genghis Khan Mausoleum

Watch the Ordos Wedding Performance: The performance runs from April 20 to October 10 every year, with shows at 12:10-12:55 and 16:00-16:45 daily (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Held at the Chengling Bulag Theater, it allows visitors to have an immersive experience of traditional Mongolian wedding customs, including rituals like presenting hada (silk scarves) and toasting with silver bowls. This lets visitors feel the unique charm and cultural connotation of Mongolian weddings.
